UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Jane Mohammed has started a three-day official visit to India during which she will meet the South Asian country’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
During his stay in India, Mohammed will also hold talks with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Environment, Forests and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav and other senior officials.
According to a release from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Amina Jane Mohammed will also visit Bangalore, where she will interact with experts from leading information and technology research institutes and industry representatives.
The meeting will showcase India’s digital advances that can be replicated in the global South to address development challenges.
Her visit is an opportunity to exchange views on India’s current G20 Presidency and its achievements on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ahead of this September’s SDG summit, as well as issues related to climate action.
India is committed to multilateralism, including through its contribution to the United Nations and its current G20 Presidency, in taking constructive measures to address global challenges, as reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.
