Toi’s Philanthropy Honours, Podcast Challenge Get Accolades At Inma Awards | Kolkata News

Kolkata: Campaigns by TOI Kolkata have won an award and an honourable mention at the International News Media Association (INMA) 2023 Global Media Awards competition that attracted 775 entries from 239 market-leading news media brands in 40 countries.
Campaigns that have been awarded, include a second place for ‘Times Podcast Challenge’ in the Best New Audio/Voice Product or Feature category.
‘Times Philanthropy Honours’ organized by TOI Kolkata has also received an ‘honourable mention’ in the Best Subscription Niche Product category.
For ‘Times Podcast Challenge’, TOI Kolkata leveraged the occasion of Saraswati Puja by launching the campaign, inviting students of grades VIII-XII to explore and engage in a new and innovative way of learning through podcasts. The campaign resonated deeply with the students and its strength grew with each editorial coverage. Topics such as new methods of learning, innovation in education were emphasized. TOI created a print-digital print experience and partnered with Riddhi Sen (National Award winner) and Rwitobroto (musician, actor) as brand ambassadors who are role models for this audience.
‘Times Podcast Challenge’ had a significant impact on the youth and captured the attention of a large audience. With a combined reach of 9.3 million people, the challenge successfully sparked a love for podcasting and technology among the youth, as evidenced by the high engagement it generated with 4.6 million video views and 2.1 million interactions. The event also attracted a considerable number of student registrations, with 900 signing up at the International Kolkata Book Fair stall.
For ‘Times Philanthropy Honours’ campaign, the city pages of TOI Kolkata carried stories of 18 philanthropists who were covered, celebrating their contributions to the society. These stories were crafted to shed light on their generosity, substantiating the same with quotes directly from the beneficiaries. These stories were further shot into two-minute videos and digitally amplified through the TOI social media handles to reach the city audience. Through digital conversations, the campaign collectively achieved a reach of more than 4.5 million people, with video views in excess of 1.8 million and engagement of 0.5 million.
The initiative culminated in a grand event where business owners were felicitated and honoured by dignitaries of the industry. Other members of the business community, regulatory bodies were also a part of the event. It turned out to be an impactful networking arena for local business owners as well.
A first of its kind, ‘Times Philanthropy Honours’ was able to cement the idea of TOI as a newspaper that celebrates the local and national community. Times Bengal Biz continues to publish every Sunday, sharing relevant stories about the business community of Kolkata.
