Since the mid-1990s, the AptarGroup Charitable Foundation has selected a non-profit to donate $25,000 to – this year, they chose Shelterhouse.
Allison Boomer, Human Resources Business Partner for Aptar recently met with Alison Baldree, Director of Philanthropy for Shelterhouse to discuss Aptar’s donation proposal.
“After we were approved to select a non-profit of our choice, I gave Alison a call to see what her thoughts were,” Boomer said.
“I said – ‘let’s grab some coffee,’” Baldree laughed.
Boomer made a visit to Shelterhouse on Monday, July 17 to present the check.
Out of the 10 years the North American division of Aptar’ foundation has been involved in selecting non-profits for this donation, the Midland location has been chosen to support locally eight times. Selecting Shelterhouse for this year’s donation was a unanimous decision according to Boomer.
“We support the efforts of Shelterhouse, and it makes a lot of sense to choose this local group that’s right in our backyard,” Boomer said.
Both groups neighbor along Waldo Avenue in Midland.
Shelterhouse will use this donation to support their children’s counseling and therapy program. This program often works with traumatized children through means of one-on-one counseling and/or play therapy.
“We are beyond grateful for Aptar’s generous donation,” Baldree said. “This is a huge help for us, and we are excited to use these funds to better our services. It feels great knowing that the community is aware of us and what we do, and that they care.”
Aptar is a global leader in drug delivery, consumer product dispensing, and active material science solutions. Their Midland location classifies as a plastic fabrication company.
Shelterhouse of Midland and Gladwin Counties provides emergency shelter, counseling, and advocacy to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
