Senegal is set to host two philanthropy conferences.

The 4th African Philanthropy Conference (2nd-4th August) and 2nd African Philanthropy Academic Conference (July 31 to August 1) are scheduled to take place in Dakar, Senegal’s capital city. Academics, practitioners, philanthropic visionaries, donors, researchers, think tanks and government officials have been invited to discuss issues surrounding its major theme, “African philanthropy at an inflection point”.

The African Philanthropy Academic Conference will take place at the iconic Museum of Black Civilizations in Dakar. The main conference will take place at the Palm Beach Hotel Conference Centre in Saly.

Up to 32 speakers are expected to attend, spread across 18 sessions.

The event is organised by TrustAfrica, Wits University’s Centre on African Philanthropy and Social Investment (CAPSI), Africa Philanthropy Forum, East Africa Philanthropy Network, Africa Philanthropy Network and Southern Africa Trust.

Professor Bhekinkosi Moyo, director at CAPSI, says a creative approach is needed for a “new era of African philanthropy”.

“By harnessing strategic and innovative approaches, we can leverage local capacity, address complex hurdles, and unlock Africa’s deep-seated potential for sustainable development,” he adds.
