The South Coast Community Foundation elected four new board of directors members, at their 28th annual meeting held on June 13. Anne Tangen of Dartmouth who is the President and CEO of BankFive gained a seat.
“It is an honor to be elected to the Community Foundation Board. I look forward to our work in serving our communities through philanthropy,” said Tangen, who was elected to a one-year term.
The meeting was held at the UMass Dartmouth Charlton College of Business where Kate Alves of Rochester, who is the President of Barry Investment Advisors; Janet Coquillette of Mattapoisett who is a long-time volunteer with arts organizations and Nathaniel Rodriguez of New Bedford who is the Captain in the New Bedford Police Department, were also elected to the board.
Together they will govern and provide oversight of the organization which works to mobilize philanthropy by matching donors and resources with community needs across the South Coast.
In the past year, the foundation distributed over $1 million to arts organizations and expanded the organization’s scholarship program. Resulting in 107 students receiving over $576,000 in scholarships last year.
Since 1995, the organization has distributed over $50 million from nearly 200 funds to humanitarian, educational and cultural organizations in the region. For more information, visit www.southcoastcf.org.
