Philanthropy Week celebrates the donors who support VCU – VCU News

Throughout the week, special tags on buildings, rooms and other spaces across the Monroe Park and MCV campuses will identify areas impacted by philanthropy. The goal is to show students how the generosity of donors has affected their personal experience at VCU. Donor support, for example, helps pay for classroom and lab spaces, the James Branch Cabell Library, art-making and sports equipment, as well as supporting beloved professors and more.

During the week, students can share what they love about VCU and earn a free Philanthropy Week T-shirt on T.A.G. Day – short for Thank a Giver. And on April 19, Rodney’s 60th birthday will be celebrated with cupcakes and a special performance from The Peppas. 

STAT board member Kayla Amoah recognizes how donor generosity has helped shape her education and life on campus.

“Philanthropy has impacted my VCU experience by giving me and every other student the resources we need to succeed in our field of study,” she said.

T.A.G. Day on April 20 is the centerpiece of Philanthropy Week. A celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Compass on the Monroe Park Campus and at the Hunton Student Center on the MCV Campus, with activities for students to show and share how donor support has enriched their VCU experience.

“Philanthropy Week gives us the opportunity to thank and appreciate our donors, who have helped make VCU the beautiful campus it is,” Amoah said.
