Paso del Norte Health Foundation, Community Foundation work for region

Must Read

Much like the work we do, papel picado ‒ the inspiration for our 2022 annual reports ‒ embodies skill, beauty, creativity and challenge. Its intricate designs echo the complexity of our missions. Its color and creativity represent the diversity, vibrance, talent, commitment and generosity of those we serve in our binational, tri-state region.

In the beauty and spirit of papel picado, we are pleased to share the impact of our work in 2022, in partnership with hundreds of nonprofit organizations and community partners to improve health, education, social services, economic development and quality of life in the region.

Together, the Paso del Norte Health Foundation and Paso del Norte Community Foundation awarded a combined $33.7 million in grants and charitable expenses in 2022, bringing total grantmaking since inception in 1995 to $324.6 million, ending the year with a combined $300.4 million in assets. The Fundación Paso del Norte mobilized an additional $1,153,598.

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation focuses its grantmaking in three priority areas: Healthy Living, Disease Prevention and Management, and Health Leadership. In 2022, the Health Foundation invested a record $13.7 million in grants and charitable expenses supporting 116 grantees and bringing total grantmaking to more than $237 million since inception. Additionally, the Health Foundation received a generous $15 million gift from MacKenzie Scott, which will thoughtfully be invested in the community over the next few years.
