Leadership and philanthropy will be recognized at the The Macomb Foundation’s Hall of Fame event to acknowledge and promote the advancement of business and communities in Macomb County.
This years inductees are a family and three other individuals and include:
• Tom Celani: He and his wife Vicki were awarded the 2011 Charitable Foundation of the Year award for Michigan. They founded the Celani Charitable Foundation in 2000, which is dedicated to addressing the needs of youth and fighting hunger. It serves the underprivileged and less fortunate families in Detroit and the surrounding metropolitan area. Those events include Cars & Cigars, and Hunger Free in the D, and have raised over $12,000,000 in charitable donations combined.
• The Gagliano family has been involved in the automotive industry since 1975. From their first business, Motor City Collision and Auto Sales, which became Collex – Collision Experts, to the current Genesis Automotive Group. the family is also active in their church and support numerous charitable events including The Bottomless Toy Chest, Truckloads of Hope, and their own charity, Wheels of Hope, which provides vehicles to needy families in Macomb County.
•Susan Kattula serves as the Breaking Barriers Program Manager at the Chaldean Community Foundation. Kattula began her career as a case worker in 2011 and has helped to get services for adults arriving in the U.S. without a language or the tools to navigate in their new country. The B.E.A.M. and H.E.A.L. projects serving those individuals that are blind or deaf were solely created by Kattula and allow individuals to communicate, learn important life skills, find employment opportunities and a place to socialize. Unpaid caregivers can find respite in the C.H.A.I. (Caregivers Helping Aid Initiative) project also developed by Kattula.
•Chef Bobby Nahra and culinary team, along with his family, donate seven-course gourmet wine dinners to charities such as St. Jude, Angels of Hope, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Father Solanus Casey Center, the Full Circle Foundation, and he sits on the board for Feeding the Need Ministry Macomb County, supplementing food and provisions for those in need at the ministry. Last spring, he and his team put together picnic baskets for 826 inner city kids on a trip to Cedar Point for the Horatio Williams Foundation and included delicious and healthy options for the kids.
The event will take place from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8 at Michigan Lottery Ampitheatre at Freedom Hill. Tickets are $175 per person and include a reception, silent auction, strolling dinner, honorary program, and entertainment and can be purchased online at macombcountychamber.com.
Michigan Lottery Ampitheatre at Freedom Hill is located at 14900 Metropolitan Parkway, Sterling Heights.
