Less Lethal California, a Manteca-based company that provides training on “less lethal” weapons for self-defense, has been named Emerging New Business of the Year by the Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce.
The company is an authorized dealer and training center for Bryna compressed-air launchers, including pistols, rifles, and shotguns, that fire kinetic or chemical-irritant projectiles.
Less-lethal launchers are legal under California law and do not require a permit of background check.
During its annual #LivValBiz Awards Luncheon last week, the Chamber described Less Lethal California as “an emerging growth company that has demonstrated an “ability to disrupt and have an immediate impact [with] a capacity for creativity and innovation.”
Other award winners included:
Ron Essex Photography, Dream Big Small Business Award. The chamber cited the Brentwood-based small business for its “exceptional business practices and community involvement.”
McGrail Vineyard & Winery, Best in Hospitality Award.
The Chamber said the Livermore winery “goes the extra mile in providing services to visitors.”
Las Positas College and Livermore Area Recreation & Park District (tie), Distinguished Large Business of the Year.
The Chamber said both award winners exhibit strength in employee training and demonstrate a commitment to the Livermore Valley through community engagement and support.
Spectrum Community Services, Non-Profit of the Year.
The Chamber said Spectrum, which provides financial and other support services for low-income families and individuals, demonstrates a “prevalent presence” in the community, is innovative, and builds relationships with the Livermore business community.
Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley, Excellence in Health Care.
The Chamber said Stanford Health Care “exemplifies excellence in corporate citizenship by giving back to the community [and] possesses a corporate culture that enhances the lives of its employees.
Suzy Clifton, with Livermore-based Altamont Limo, was named Ambassador of the Year. Ambassadors help in organizing Chamber mixers and ribbon-cutting events.
