The career-defining role is dedicated to increasing philanthropic support for ambitious priorities that support Indigenous leadership, research, programs and students. Engaging with philanthropists and supporters is informed by the One Sydney, Many People Strategy 2021-2024 and its steadfast commitment to celebrating and respecting Indigenous cultures, knowledges and peoples at the University of Sydney.
This position offers a sector-leading opportunity working closely with senior executive leadership within the Indigenous Strategy and Services portfolio, faculty and academic colleagues across the University to substantially increase philanthropic support. This role provides a significant opportunity for an inspiring and passionate major gifts leader who seeks to have substantial impact on the future.
You will be leading a broad portfolio of philanthropic opportunities across the institution, and the Leader of Indigenous Philanthropy is a key and active member of the Arts and Culture team within the Advancement Portfolio, working closely with colleagues to achieve ambitious annual fundraising targets.
In particular, you will lead on major gifts activity with a specific focus on prospects with the capacity to make multi-million dollar gifts.
About you

- A substantial background in major gift fundraising and experience in working with First Nations peoples and priorities.
- Cultural competence and a strategic approach, this will enable you to drive best practice fundraising and impactful outcomes.
- Demonstrated internal relationship building and strong leadership skills with the ability to engage stakeholders
- Ability to be a team-player, build strong, collaborative relationships not just with influential donors but with colleagues, faculty leadership and the academic community across the University.
- A creative mindset and strong sense of integrity, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and a passion for higher education
