Kodak Black Wants To Be Known As A Philanthropist Not A Gangsta

Must Read

Kodak Black has said that he wants to be known as more of a philanthropist rather than a gangster.

The comments were made during Yak’s latest Instagram Live session, where he said he just wants his family to be proud of him.

“People care to be a gangsta, they care for n-ggas looking at them like they some type of gangsta,” Kodak said. “I don’t give a fuck about that shit you heard me? I don’t live for that. I’m a philanthropist, a good n-gga, righteous, all that. I only worry about being a good son and making sure my mom is proud of me. Making sure my family proud of me.”

Kodak Black has given back in big ways to his Florida hometown over the years. Last September, Kodak paid rent for 28 families in his hometown who were on the verge of eviction.

“28 Families Was Bout To Get Evicted For Being Behind On Their Rent A Few Months,” Kodak explained at the time on his Instagram Story. “I Paid What They Owed And Also Paid Their Rents For The Next Few Months So They Good For The Remaining Of The Year.”

Previously, during the summer of 2021, the Bill Israel rapper also purchased 100 air conditioning units for around $12,500 and donated them to residents at the Golden Acres Projects in his hometown. He personally went door-to-door with the units, and handed them out to the residents, many of whom were emotional.

Then, after Broward County Commissioner Dale Holeness honored Kodak Black with his own day in 2021, the Florida rapper took that honor seriously and celebrated it with his own hometown festival.

Kodak Black Day took place on June 11, the rapper’s 25th birthday, at Pompano Community Park, and included performances from Lil Durk, Moneybagg Yo, EST Gee and Hotboii, among others. The fun-filled day also featured carnival rides, local food vendors and games, with all proceeds going to various South Florida-based charitable organizations.

On the music front, Kodak Black’s last official album, Back For Everything, was released in February 2022 and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, earning 60,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.

Kodak’s considerable catalog led him to recently get upset over the fact he doesn’t have multiple Grammy noms. During a studio session with DJ Akademiks and YouTuber Adin Ross, he argued that his past success should have earned him some serious hardware.

“Y’all know I’m supposed to have a million Grammys,” Kodak said at the time. “Ok, but fuck the Grammy’s, fuck the awards ’cause sometimes your shit don’t always come as a trophy.”

He continued: “Look how real n-ggas gotta get their awards. I count the Trump pardon — that’s my Grammy, that’s my award then.”
