India Climate Collaborative launches platform to boost climate-based funding

Must Read

The India Climate Collaborative (ICC), a collective dedicated to climate action, has launched a new platform aimed at plugging climate action funding gaps within the country.

Dubbed as ‘Earth Exponential’, the platform will bring together funders and non-profit organisations to help “scale up high-impact climate change programmes and improve climate funding efficiency”, said the collective in a statement.

The new platform, supported by India’s JSW Foundation, hopes to reshape climate funding in India by “curating, evaluating and displaying home-grown climate projects”, allowing them to grow by matching them to funders.

“India’s home-grown climate solutions offer immense potential to solve address climate change without leaving anyone behind. These solutions can change how the developing world addresses the climate crisis – and we believe philanthropy plays a crucial role in unleashing this potential for the benefit of both India and the Global South,” said Shloka Nath, CEO of the India Climate Collaborative.

The ICC connects its donor base with the wider organisations tackling climate issues – including research organisations and government stakeholders– to ensure that funding flows towards high-impact climate solutions.

Pre-eminent corporate and philanthropic leaders in India founded the collaborative, including Rohini Nilekani, Ratan Tata, Anand Mahindra and Sangita Jindal.
