BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Yoga is a spiritual exercise that connects the mind and body. This mindful movement helps ground emotions and gain perspective. Although yoga can be practiced individually, its true potential lies in the power of community, which can turn it into a force for positive change. That is exactly the energy In Balance Yoga (IBY) is cultivating this weekend.
IBY studio in Blacksburg is hosting its 10th ‘Kunga Fest’ fundraiser, with 100% of donations directly supporting the ‘Homes of Hope Orphanage‘ in India. This weekend is centered around philanthropy and embracing ‘Kunga,’ which means “to serve, help, or reconcile” in Kinyarwanda.
Homes of Hope is a safe space for orphaned, abandoned, or trafficked young girls in India. IBY has supported Homes of Hope and other nonprofits over the past decade.
“We are celebrating our 10th year as a small business in our community and have our 10th fundraiser raising money for one of the nonprofits we work with and have raised over $100,000 over the past decade for our community and beyond,” said Nicole LaFon, owner of IBY studio.
From June 2-3, In Balance Yoga is offering 15 donation-based classes. No membership is required to attend these special classes, but donations are welcomed. Hot yoga, ariel yoga, and gentle flow, are just some of the options offered.
A silent auction will also be available for bidding until 6 p.m. on Saturday, with 100% of the profits going directly to the Homes of Home Orphanage. Over 20 items are offered, including a private ariel yoga session, a one-hour reiki session, a facial, an acupuncture session, and more!
If that isn’t enticing enough, there will also be special discounts on membership plans!
If you’ve never tried yoga before, this is a perfect place to start. If you’re an experienced yogi, this is a perfect opportunity to give back to the community.
