Hundreds attend RVNAhealth Autumn Dinner, celebrate nonprofit at the heart of community

Must Read

In a heartwarming display of community support and generosity, RVNAhealth hosted its Annual Autumn Dinner at the Silver Spring Country Club last weekend. The event was a resounding success, raising nearly $300,000 to further the organization’s mission of delivering top-notch, compassionate healthcare. Since its establishment in 1914, RVNAhealth has been a cornerstone of healthcare services in the region.

The evening commenced with a delightful cocktail hour, as attendees gathered on the club’s patio to enjoy hors d’oeuvres and the company of fellow community members. Adding to the pre-dinner festivities was a whiskey-tasting experience and live music provided by the talented Nick DePuy.

Following cocktails, Eileen Walker, RVNAhealth Board Chair welcomed the many attendees to the picturesque dining room.  Theresa Santoro RVNAhealth CEO and President shared a few words about the important work of the agency, its growth and impact. A delicious seated dinner, fine wines, and warm apple crisp a la mode was enjoyed by all.

The true heart of the evening came by way of the Impact Speaker, Jeanette Rizzo. Her emotional and personal speech brought to life the mission and purpose of RVNAhealth. She shared a personal story of how RVNAhealth had played a pivotal role in her family’s life, describing it as “without a doubt, the best decision” she made when choosing healthcare and home care for her mother.

Rizzo’s story resonated with the audience as she highlighted the exceptional bond that had formed between her family and her RVNAhealth caregiver. Even after her mother had passed away, her caregiver continued to be a part of their lives, attending Jeanette’s daughter’s wedding. This touching relationship embodied the essence of RVNAhealth’s commitment to creating meaningful connections with every patient and their families.

After Jeanette spoke, fun and philanthropy ensued as entertainer, Tom Pesce, presented a live auction that included a catered dinner by À Table, a private movie-going experience at The Prospector Theater, a mixology class complete with pizza from Posa, as well as sporting events, and family getaways.

MJ Heller, the Director of Philanthropy at RVNAhealth, expressed her gratitude to all who had contributed to making the 2023 Autumn Dinner one of the most successful to date. She acknowledged the support from both those in attendance and those who had supported the cause from a distance saying, “The Annual Autumn Dinner holds a special place in RVNAhealth’s calendar as its largest and most vital fundraising event of the year. Funds raised from this event allow us to care for individuals who are uninsured or underinsured, support well-child services for children and families who struggle with access to healthcare, and sustain community wellness programs.”  RVNAhealth also extended its heartfelt thanks to all who played a role in making the evening a resounding success, including dedicated committee members and the entire RVNAhealth philanthropy team.

The 2023 Annual Autumn Dinner was not merely an event; it was a testament to the power of community, compassion, and collective action. It served as a reminder that when a community comes together with a shared purpose, it can make a profound difference in the lives of those in need. RVNAhealth’s mission to provide unmatched, compassionate healthcare continues, thanks to the unwavering support of its dedicated community.
