It’s time to recognize the power of giving with the Moonridge Foundation’s 12th annual Philanthropy Leaders Summit on Friday, September 15 in Las Vegas and Reno. The summit theme is “Legacy Philanthropy” and will feature a lineup of speakers with a strong legacy-giving history, as well as new prominent philanthropists creating a long-lasting legacy through giving. The inspiring event will feature opening remarks from Grammy nominated singer songwriter and mental health pioneer Jewel, with a variety of speakers including Pilar Harris, Senior Director of CSR and Government Relations for Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc., and Sam Joffray, President & CEO, Las Vegas Super Bowl Host Committee and more.
“In preparation for the 2023 FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX, it’s been a priority for us to amplify the great work of organizations here in the valley that have a track record of transformative community impact,” said Pilar Harris, Senior Director of CSR and Government Relations for Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. “We care deeply about leveraging the power of sport to bring people together and look forward to creating lasting change in the next decade and beyond.”
This year’s speaker line-up will also feature inspirational local leaders who have had an instrumental family history in Nevada philanthropy such as Donald Carano II, Director of Community Relations and Responsible Gaming of The ROW; Calgary Avansino, Co-President and Executive Director of the E.L. Wiegand Foundation; Christina Ellis, Vice President of Development for Ellis Island Casino & Brewery, Village Pubs, and Mt. Charleston Lodge; and Jess Molasky, Principal and Project Manager at Ovation. More speakers are soon to be announced.
“The Moonridge Foundation has experienced the remarkable influence of the summit on philanthropy and social impact across Nevada for more than a decade,” said MaryGrace Rendina, Senior Program Director for the Moonridge Group. “This year will showcase a wealth of new ideas, breakthrough innovations, inspiring speakers, all while upholding our commitment to uplifting philanthropy and driving its powerful impact across the state.”
Attendees will be able to participate and learn from panels focusing on “next generation” philanthropists, sports, and casino philanthropists, in addition to well-known Nevada families carrying on a legacy of giving back.
The summit will shine a light on how corporations and foundations are honoring the past and looking to the future through their giving practices. New to the event, in collaboration with Nevada Business Magazine, two individuals from Northern Nevada and two individuals from Southern Nevada will be honored with the Trailblazing Philanthropist of the Year Award. The award will honor the work of the trailblazing philanthropy in Nevada.
Ahead of the Inaugural Trailblazing Philanthropist of the Year Awards being presented at the summit, the Moonridge Group is accepting nominations.
