A deputy director (audit), in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Ambassador Chioma Uzo-Udegbunam (PhD) has bagged a national award for her excellence in public service, women empowerment and philantropy.

Udegbunam was honoured along with other Nigerians at the 14th Nigeria Festival of Awards held in Abuja on Wednesday.

Presenting the award, national coordinator for the award ceremony, Prince IK Ben, explained that Dr Chioma Uzo-Udegbunam was selected among other awardees because she has affected lives, positively, both in the public and private sectors.

Ben said the awardees has also influenced many young women, by fighting for their rights, and has also supported people, especially the less privileged in the society.

According to him, “There are many reasons why Dr Chioma Uzo-Udegbunam was selected, among other awardees, for this year’s 14th Nigeria Festival of Awards.

Basically, Dr Chioma is an enigma. She is a woman leader that has affected lives, in one way or the other, both in the public and private sectors.

Educationally, she has done wonders by influencing many young women, by fighting for their rights, positively and all that.

She is also a philanthropist, because she still uses the little she has, one way or the other, to support people, especially the less privileged in the society.”

Responding, Dr Chioma thanked the organisers of the award ceremony for finding her worthy for the award, adding that the award will spur her to more.
