On Nov. 8, Evanston Chamber of Commerce will host its signature annual event from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Autobarn Service Center, 2201 Autobarn Place.
The 13th MashUp in 14 years will host over 800 business leaders, local officials, City of Evanston staff, representatives from Northwestern, local not-for-profits, and important Evanston personalities for an extravagant evening of conversation, partnership, celebration, philanthropy, and most importantly FOOD.
MashUp 2023 will feature 40 of the North Shore’s most iconic and up-and-coming restaurants, breweries, cafés and more, making this the most extensive food and beverage lineup for MashUp to date, and the largest food event of its kind in Evanston.

MashUp began in 2011 as an opportunity for business owners, city officials, university leaders, and not-for-profits to gather, celebrate, connect and acknowledge the contributions of those in the Evanston community.
For many years the event took place in a large tent on the lakefront at Northwestern’s campus but has since evolved into a much larger initiative that allows local Evanston businesses the opportunity to host in the community. This will be the second year in a row the event will be hosted by Richard Fisher Dealerships at The Autobarn Nissan and Service Center.
“It’s a fun opportunity to host an event that’s hugely important to the Evanston business community,” said Richard Fisher. “It really puts our Nissan and Service Center locations on the map, hosting all of Evanston’s best restaurants, most important people and making new friends. I just love that we can do it in our space and show off the work that we do in the process. We’re very proud to be hosting MashUp again this year!”
The event serves as a fundraiser for Evanston Chamber of Commerce, but also supports additional philanthropic causes in the community.
MashUp Moolah
This year, the planning committee responsible for MashUp, selected four philanthropic partner organizations which will receive “MashUp Moolah” grants from MashUp proceeds. The four organizations are :

Paws & Claws Rescue
Exact dollar amounts for these grants will be determined based on sponsorship and registration proceeds from the event on Nov. 8. MashUp Moolah grants in previous years have typically ranged from $1,000 to $2,000 per organization.
The MashUp planning committee includes members of Evanston Chamber’s Board of Directors, representatives from the City of Evanston, Northwestern, and other major MashUp sponsors.

About the Awards
Corrine Passage Spirit of Evanston Award
The Corrine Passage Spirit of Evanston Award recognizes and thanks a local hero who goes above and beyond to embody the spirit of Evanston. This award is given annually to an Evanstonian who has over the past year, or over their lifetime, demonstrated their commitment to Evanston through acts of courage, vision, compassion, creativity, kindness, resourcefulness, connectivity, and entrepreneurship. Think of it as an annual “Most Valuable Player” award recognizing Evanston unsung leader, neighbor, or good Samaritan who exhibits all of Evanston’s best values. In 2012, it was renamed the Corrine Passage Spirit of Evanston Award in honor of one of Evanston’s business and philanthropic leaders and founder of MashUp.
Past winners of the Corinne Passage Spirit of Evanston Award include: The Katz Family, Tosha Wilson, Chuck Lewis & Penny Sebring, Col. Jennifer Pritzker, Patrick Hughes Jr., Dick Peach, Bill Logan, and Corine Passage, among others.
Catalyst Award
The Catalyst Award shines a light on how the City of Evanston and Northwestern University are working together to make Evanston a better place for everyone. This award acknowledges individuals, organizations, or initiatives that exemplify the spark behind the original purpose of MashUp: improving town and gown relations by bringing the City of Evanston and Northwestern University together. Whether through innovation, philanthropy, collaboration, or education, the Catalyst Award recognizes actions both big and small over the past year or through a lifetime of partnership.
Past winners of the Catalyst Award include: Elizabeth Tisdahl, Morton Shapiro, Eric Witherspoon, Alan Anderson, NU Dance Marathon, and Evanston Police Department, among others.
“MashUp is at the center of what Evanston Chamber of Commerce is all about -bringing the entire business community, City of Evanston, and Northwestern together to connect and celebrate all that makes Evanston unique and vibrant,” said Garrett Karp, executive director of Evanston Chamber of Commerce.
Registration open
While MashUp is a private event, the public is welcome to purchase tickets. Advance registration is still open, though walk-ins will not be accepted the night of the event. Discounted tickets are available for Evanston Chamber of Commerce members or young professionals (35 and under).
