Eastwood Yeboah ’25, a double major in psychology and Africana studies, has been selected to receive one of the prestigious Obama Voyager Scholarships.
Created from a partnership of the Obama Foundation and Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, the scholarship supports students who seek careers in public service.
“I plan to focus on disparities in access to mental health resources and knowledge, particularly within marginalized communities that have historically lacked the necessary support,” Yeboah said.
Yeboah, who hails from Germantown, Md., is a Seward Fellow and highly active in the Union community. He serves on the Student Forum executive board and as secretary of the campus Red Cross chapter. He is also a Kenney Community Center volunteer and philanthropy chair of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society. He was elected this spring to serve as student trustee.
This fall, Yeboah is studying on a term abroad in Greece.
He was a summer intern at the Boys and Girls Club of Germantown, supported by the Class of 1991 Internship Fund. He also worked at an addiction recovery center, an experience that he said solidified his plan to attend law school.
Voyager Scholars receive up to $50,000 ($25,000 per year) for their junior and senior years of college. They also receive a $10,000 stipend and free Airbnb housing to pursue summer work-travel between their junior and senior year. They are invited to share their journey each fall at an annual summit.
