Dorian Singer’s Midwestern Roots Inspired His Philanthropy

Must Read

Last month, 7-Eleven, Inc. teamed up with nine college football players for its first-ever Cleat Crew program. The initiative brings together stars from top-ranked NCAA football programs across the country to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

The athletes worked with renowned bespoke luxury designer “The Shoe Surgeon” to put their mark on individual pairs of custom cleats that fans can win through weekly auctions that coincide with some of the most anticipated games of the season. Proceeds from each sale will directly benefit longtime partner of the 7-Eleven family of brands, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

USC Trojans wide receiver Dorian Singer is one of the college standouts participating in the cause. The third-year player’s cleats are benefitting Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. FanNation Kicks spoke with Singer about his involvement in the program and his favorite footwear.

How did this partnership come together?

“It came together by just a few athletes that 7-Eleven has selected to put a great cause together to help the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.”

What made you choose to support the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles?

“Moving out here from Minnesota to Arizona to Los Angeles, just seeing how back home in Minnesota is kind of like Los Angeles. It made me want to give back to where I’m at now, then grow it and start giving back to more communities.”

The cleats look great and have some incredible attention to detail. What’s your favorite part of the design?

“Yes, first of all, thank you very much for the compliment on the cleats. My favorite part of the cleats is my logo on the top of the toe. It’s a logo I had designed a year and a half ago, and then I got the design tattooed on my left leg. So, that’s very special to me.”

What did the design process look like?

“I basically got a questionnaire asking my favorite and least favorite things. Just so the Shoe Surgeon can get to know me a little more. He found out what I like and dislike, so he can have the best idea for me going into it and putting a great shoe together.”

What sneakers do you wear when you’re not on the field?

“So, my feet are like wide. So, I like wearing slippers a lot. My go-to slipper is the Yeezy slide. If I do put on sneakers, I’ll throw on some Jordans or something, some Nikes.”
