Salary Range: $120,000–$140,000
The Director of Development provides management and leadership
for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a
comprehensive development plan and all fundraising activities
aligned with the Museum’s goals and strategies. With an annual
budget of approximately $8M, Museum of the Moving Image is a member
of New York City’s Cultural Institutions Group (CIG).

Essential Duties:
- Develop and implement
the overall fundraising strategy for the Museum. - Work closely with the
Executive Director and other members of the senior management team
to develop fundraising goals and support the efforts of the museum
in programming and other campaigns. - Create and maintain a
consistent and methodical system for timely cultivation,
stewardship, solicitation, and fulfillment of donor
programs. - Create innovative
fundraising engagement programs to cultivate new donors. - Identify and secure
corporate supporters, including developing a new strategy on
corporate giving benefits. - Strategize, manage, and
execute the annual calendar of donor cultivation events, including
galas. - Develop and expand donor
cultivation opportunities. - Oversee government
support and relationships, including city, state, and federal
levels. - Manage relationships
with the Museum’s major foundation partnerships and build on the
foundation portfolio. - Leverage Executive
Director and other leadership staff to cultivate new
donors. - In collaboration with
the Executive Director, cultivate and oversee relationships with
the Board of Trustees. - Recruit, train, and
supervise development staff, interns, and volunteers. - Identify, oversee, and
increase grant proposals from institutional partners. - Manage overall
fundraising budget and cash flow needs, and ensure goals are
met. - Develop new fundraising
strategies for future campaigns. - Other duties as
assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree or
equivalent relevant experience - Minimum of 7–10 years
experience in a development-related position - 3–5 years of supervisory
experience leading diverse staff - Strong budget management
experience required - Experience working in a
museum setting or other nonprofit related field - Proven track record of
successful fundraising (over 5 million annually) in the nonprofit
sector - Ability to cultivate and
steward major gifts - Excellent interpersonal
and problem-solving skills; comfortability communicating with all
levels of internal staff and donors - Knowledge of development
databases - Ability to use
development-related philanthropic search engines. - Familiarity with
tri-state philanthropic community - Experience with special
events - Strong customer service,
organizational, and problem-solving skills - Team-builder
mentality - Goal-oriented

under pressure - Innovative, creative,
and adaptable - Ability to travel as
needed
