David G. Neenan, 80, of Ft. Collins, CO passed away on June 26, 2023. He was born September 11, 1942 in Columbia, MO to John (Jack) and Shirley (Gier) Neenan. He grew up in Columbia and was a proud Hickman Kewpie and Mizzou graduate. He met his wife Sharon Wells while at MU. David went on to serve in the US Army attaining rank of Lieutenant.
David lived in Ft. Collins, CO for all of his adult life where he founded The Neenan Company in 1973, a unique company that provided “one-stop” shopping for design and building construction, David coined as “Archistruction.”
He was a noted business and civic leader for more than 50 years. The Coloradan newspaper noted his passing with a headline of “David Neenan leaves a legacy of public service, leadership and philanthropy” His employees remember his “vision, kindness, sense of humor and ethics” as do his family, siblings and everyone who knew him. He also wrote a book on accountability titled “No Excuses: Take Responsibility for Your Own Success” and gave multiple business seminars in the US and Europe entitled “Business and You.”
He leaves behind many award winning beautiful commercial, educational, medical and community centers, as well as a powerful legacy with his wife Sharon, 4 daughters—Jessica Neenan, Samantha (Ryan) Anderson, Lindsay (Josh) Durand, and Alexandra (John) DiLacqua, 10 grandchildren “and the thousands of people he has impacted.”
David is also survived by his 9 siblings—Barbara, Dan, Peter, Guy, Mark, Tedd, Anne, Beth and Claire Neenan. There has been a family celebration of life and interment.
