The program supplies cribs and car seats for families with low income needing help.

Growing inflation, skyrocketing grocery prices, a looming recession, and the housing crisis are all causing incredible strain on families.

The cost of a crib or a car seat can be prohibitive and sometimes results in an infant’s safety being compromised.

Keep Baby Safe is an expanded version of the former TCF program called Sleep Baby Safe which was run internally by Highland Shores Children’s Aid.  Now, Keep Baby Safe is available for anyone in the community with low income to access.

“The Children’s Foundation believes that finances should never determine the safety of an infant”, says Melanie Cressman, executive director.

“We are proud to partner with The John M. and Bernice Parrott Foundation and Kiwanis Club of Belleville and thank them for their generosity in helping The Children’s Foundation bring Keep Baby Safe to the broader community.  We know that a child’s future success can sometimes be determined the moment they are born.”

The foundation, meanwhile, will celebrate the 24th anniversary of The Guardian Angel Gala March 2 of next year by honouring Patricia Guernsey, a philanthropic leader in our community.

The Guardian Angel Gala is The Children’s Foundation’s largest fundraiser.

“It was a unanimous vote”, says Mike Callaghan, TCF Board chair. “Patricia’s name was put forward and we all agreed that this honour was long overdue. Patricia has been a central force in philanthropy in our community for many, many years. It’s time to celebrate her dedication to the many organizations that she has devoted her time to.”

CIBC Wood Gundy Brady Clark Advisory Team will once again be the presenting sponsor of this prestigious event.

Portfolio Managers & Senior Wealth Advisors Sam Brady & Ian Clark want to congratulate Guernsey on her recognition as this year’s Guardian Angel.

“Patricia’s contributions to the youth of the Quinte Region are immeasurable and we are thrilled to be able to sponsor this year’s gala to celebrate her,” said Brady.

“We look forward to celebrating all of Patricia’s good deeds with her other friends in the community this coming March,” added Clark.

The Children’s Foundation strives to improve the quality of life for children and youth in need by providing educational opportunities, inspiring activities, engaging experiences, and resources, that empower children and youth for future success, in the communities of Hastings, Northumberland, and Prince Edward Counties.
