Catholic Charities of Fairfield County Receives Grants from New Canaan Community Foundation

New Canaan, CT – New Canaan Community Foundation (NCCF), a non-profit charity organization dedicated to addressing community needs and supporting local nonprofits, has announced the allocation of $712,700 in grants to benefit 92 nonprofit organizations in New Canaan and neighboring communities. The Foundation celebrated the grant recipients at its awards ceremony on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Grace Farms in New Canaan, CT. In attendance were nonprofit partners, community volunteers, as well as the Foundation’s donor-advised fundholders, who choose to partner with the Foundation in their family philanthropy.

NCCF’s grants are designed to support high-quality and impactful programs and initiatives that make a positive difference in the community. With the guidance of nearly 100 community volunteers, grant-making decisions are based on the needs and interests of New Canaan and its surrounding communities. This year, the NCCF received an unprecedented 117 applications, totaling $1.5 million in requests, highlighting the tremendous need and the competitive nature of the grant process. Due to the remarkable generosity of the community, the Foundation will continue to provide impactful funding for adiverse range of programs serving the local community. The grants awarded this year align with five key categories: Human Services; Arts, Culture & Community Resources; Youth & Education; Health (including a dedicated focus on behavioral health); and Seniors & Special Needs.

Catholic Charities of Fairfield County is honored to announce that it has received grants for the essential services of two of its programs: New Covenant Center and Senior Nutrition Program.

New Covenant Center meets the needs of the most vulnerable in Lower Fairfield County by reducing food and economic insecurity among the neediest in greater Stamford. Services include a Soup Kitchen/Café, Food Pantry, and collaborations with Inspirica, Saint Joseph’s Parenting Center, and other organizations.

Senior Nutrition Program fulfills the nutritional and social needs of at-risk seniors through the delivery of nutritious meals to the homebound elderly of Stamford, Darien, Norwalk, Westport and New Canaan.

Catholic Charities of Fairfield County extends heartfelt gratitude to NCCF for its generous support. These funds will enable us to continue providing high-quality and essential services to individuals and families in need throughout Fairfield County.
