The Community Foundation of Lorain County announced that Brittany “Britt” Lovett, a visionary leader in the world of philanthropy, was honored with the prestigious Emerging Philanthropist Award by Philanthropy Ohio for her exceptional contributions to advancing philanthropy in Lorain County and across Ohio.

This award recognizes her remarkable leadership, commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, and outstanding impact in her community, according to a news release.

Lovett is now the second Lorain County native to win the award, with the prior being Tony Richardson, former executive director of Nord Family Foundation and current president of The Gund Foundation, in 2017, the release said.

Her journey into philanthropy began at the Community Foundation of Lorain County, where she demonstrated dedication to amplifying the voices of marginalized and underrepresented individuals within her community, according to the release.

Lovett’s empathetic and inclusive approach to philanthropy has earned her the trust and respect of many across Lorain County, the release said.

“One of Britt’s most notable achievements has been spearheading the Community Foundation’s Connect to a Cause campaign,” the release said. “This groundbreaking program has raised over a million dollars, showcasing innovative thinking and commitment to working collaboratively with nonprofits and creatives to keep the event fresh and appealing year after year.”

In addition to her work with Connect to a Cause, Lovett established the Toni Morrison Essay Contest for Young People, providing students from across Lorain County with an opportunity to express themselves and connect with the legacy of Morrison, according to the release.

Cindy Andrews, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Lorain County, expressed her pride in Lovett’s accomplishments.

“The entire Board of Directors and staff at the Community Foundation of Lorain County are not only privileged to have worked with Britt, but also incredibly proud to witness her bringing about positive change in our community through philanthropy,” Andrews said in the release. “We are thrilled she is receiving the Emerging Philanthropist Award from Philanthropy Ohio.”

Lovett’s impact extends beyond her financial contributions, the release said.

Her philanthropic endeavors foster understanding, empathy, and a sense of belonging, showing that true philanthropy is about more than just money — it’s about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others, according to the release.

“As she continues to blaze a trail toward a brighter future, Brittany Lovett is the shining example for the next generation of philanthropic leaders, and the Emerging Philanthropist Award has found a truly deserving recipient,” the release said.
