Bogota set to host Shift The Power summit

Must Read

Colombia’s capital city Bogota is set to host a major conference bringing together voices from community philanthropy and networks exploring how the sector can tackle various global crisis with decision makers rooted in the Global South.

Shift The Power, a global summit, will take place on 5-7 December, seven years after the inaugural summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, where the hashtag #ShiftThePower emerged.

The programme will critique and explore how, despite commitments made by international philanthropy to ensure more funding goes directly to frontline communities, particularly in the climate crisis space, progress remains slow.

Ahead of the December summit, a number of online events will take place across November. Online conversations include a look at decolonising international cooperation, Who does civil society belong to?, ‘What can we learn from networked experiences in Latin America?’, and ‘holding power to account – the transformative experience of being heard’.

A full list of online talks are available to view.

Groups attending the summit include representatives from Global Nation in Colombia, Indonesia for Humanity, Philanthropy for Social Justice and Peace (India), TerritoriA (Colombia), the West Africa Civil Society Institute and the Serbian-based Reconstruction Women’s Fund.
