On Thursday, Nov. 9, the Berks County Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) will celebrate its 17th Annual National Philanthropy Day® at the DoubleTree Reading, at 701 Penn St. in Reading. Breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m., and the program commences at 8 a.m.
The annual breakfast honors individuals, organizations, and businesses for their extraordinary philanthropic achievements in Berks County.
2023 National Philanthropy Day Award Recipients
- Outstanding Philanthropist: Jim Boscov, Boscov’s Department Store, LLC
- Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser: Gail Landis
- Outstanding Small Corporation: Power Kunkle Group
- Outstanding Large Corporation: M & T Bank
- Outstanding Community Group: RACCy Olympics, Reading Area Community College
- Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy (Individual): Colton Brady, Raisin Kindness
- Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy (Group): Voice UP Berks, Youth Volunteer Corps of Reading
- Meggan Kerber Outstanding Fundraising Professional: David Delozier, Helping Harvest

The AFP Berks Regional Chapter kicked off its inaugural National Philanthropy Day® event in November 2007 to celebrate those who change the world with their gifts and their spirit of philanthropy in Berks County and surrounding communities. Proceeds from the AFP Berks Regional Chapters National Philanthropy Day® provide local fundraising professionals with financial support to participate in local, regional, and national workshops, conferences, and seminars.
