The new Steak 48 restaurant hosted a private, pre-opening charity dining experience on Oct. 6, raising over $29,000 for Voices for Children. Del Mar Highlands Town Center, home of the new fine dining destination, donated an additional $75,000 to the cause resulting in a more than $104,000 contribution to Voices for Children.
“Thank you to Del Mar Highlands Town Center and Steak 48. We are thrilled to be the recipient of these generous donations,” said Jessica Muñoz, president and CEO of Voices for Children in a news release. “These funds will help support the crucial advocacy for vulnerable children living in foster care right here in our local community.”
The donation will support Voices for Children’s Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program. CASAs are community volunteers who make a commitment to advocate for the needs of the abused, neglected, and abandoned children in foster care. VFC has supported over 900 CASAs and provided life-changing advocacy to more than 1,800 children living in foster care in San Diego County.
“Together, our goal is to help make a difference in the lives of these children, ensuring they are heard and cared for and that their futures are brighter, and to reinforce our dedication to the communities where we live and operate,” said Mary Rottler, chief operating officer for First Washington Realty, which owns Del Mar Highlands.
As part of its grand opening rollout, Steak 48 hosted five charity nights supporting local charities. In addition to giving back to Voices for Children, Steak 48 helped raise a total of $138,370 for the San Diego Opera, Las Patronas, the Rancho Santa Fe Women’s Fund and the Country Friends.
