Alliance magazine has announced new measures to address gaps highlighted by a new audit looking at equity, diversity and inclusion across the publication.
This includes improving the transparency of editorial decision-making, with the inclusion of a new permanent space on the Alliance website with clear submission guidelines.
Guidelines explain how to submit opinion, news, and analysis, how to propose special features, and how our editorial advisory board works. It will make clear that financial support of Alliance does not provide editorial access or preference. Our editorial processes are the same for everyone.
New submissions guidelines have been introduced aimed at removing financial barriers for marginalised contributors. That could include a fund designed with a clear process setting out who might qualify.
As Alliance takes its role as a global publication platforming voices from all over the world seriously, therefore the magazine will seek funding for a translation service allowing contributors to write in their own language, where needed. This is critical considering English is not most people’s first language.
Alliance has already sought to improve the diversity of philanthropy coverage from across the world, employing a news editor and representatives in every region.
