The philanthropic gesture of popular business mogul, Femi Otedola, has been hailed by some notable Nigerians, including the Group Managing Director of Sahara Power Group, Kola Adesina; media personality and a former presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu; and politician and Chairman, Aquila Group, Shina Peller.

Otedola was on Thursday appointed the Chancellor of Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Lagos State.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Christopher Odetunde, said Otedola had contributed immensely to the growth of the university.

“I know Mr Femi Otedola will do the right thing. He has been of great value to the university and he has a lot of connections and he shares the vision of Augustine University to be a leading global provider of career-oriented services,” he said.

Meanwhile, Otedola shared pictures from the event on Instagram on Thursday, revealing that he gifted N1m each to 750 students in the school.

He captioned the photos, “Today, I was officially inaugurated as the Chancellor of Augustine University. I strongly believe in transforming establishments that I am associated with.

“Therefore, to commemorate my appointment and in recognition of the harsh economic situation in our country, I gave a gift of N1m each to 750 students. I hope this donation of N750m assists the plight of the parents of our students in this difficult time.”

Reacting to the post, Adesina said, “Well done, my brother.”

On his part, Momodu commented, “Congratulations, Baba.”

Peller wrote, “Congratulations. Our purpose in life is to make an impact. This is inspiring. Thank you sir.”

Otedola’s children, Tolani and Florence, aka Dj Cuppy, were not left out in the outpouring of commendation on their father.

Cuppy wrote, “Papa, your commitment to philanthropy and giving back sets the perfect example for us all. I’m so happy you posted (this) because people don’t even know half of what you do for others. I am so proud of you and love you deep.”

Tolani wrote, “Congratulations boss. (I’m) so proud of you.”

Other entertainers, who commended Otedola, were Faithia Williams, Adeniyi Johnson and Jide Awobona.
