Members of Scrapbooking, Papercrafts & More are involved in a variety of philanthropic programs. On the first Thursday of each month, member Sandy Lichterman oversees a Card Art Exchange where each participant creates two cards based on a theme provided the previous month.
After a brief show-and-tell, members swap one card with another participant and the second card is donated to the club’s Meals on Wheels philanthropy, which is coordinated by member Sharon Marinello.
Marinello recently organized a clinic where 304 cards collected from Card Art Exchanges in recent months were separated by holiday or theme. Working in production line fashion, members chose eight cards, each from a different holiday or theme and packaged them in a cellophane bag tied with ribbon and a SPAM gift tag.
A total of 38 all-occasion greeting card packs were assembled and will provide homebound residents in Sun City West with a variety of cards to send to friends and family throughout the year.
Those who want to learn how to create stamped art, make unique greeting cards or create a family scrapbook (traditional or digi) can meet members and check out the club’s crafting inventory. SPAM meets in Beardsley’s Agave Room Thursdays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.), Fridays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) and Saturdays (10 a.m.-5 p.m.).
