The Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) joined the United Nations SDG Media Compact, a network of 400 media outlets promoting the international organization’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Head of the UN’s Strategic Communications Directorate for Sustainable Development Francyne Harrigan welcomed the Greek national broadcaster in a letter to ANA-MPA President and General Director Aimilios Perdikaris. She said new members bring new ideas and energy towards meeting the Sustainable Development Goals.
The SDG Media Compact was founded in 2018 to advance awaareness of the Goals, which in turn form part of the 2030 for Sustainable Development plan adopted by all UN member states in 2019.
The Compact seeks to inspire news and entertainment organizations to leverage their resources and talent to amplify and accelerate progress towards achieving the Goals. SDG Media Compact members receive regular opportunities for engagement with UN experts on key issues relating to the SDGs as well as regular updates, relevant content and insights on UN priorities issues, their site said (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sdg-media-compact-about/#news).
