Susan Vanisacker and the Rasey Memorial Branch Library were honored during the recent Giving Represents Our Women event offered by the Community Foundation of Monroe County. The GROW event was at the the River Raisin National Battlefield Park.
GROW is a philanthropic women’s organization that supports women and children’s organizations throughout the community.
“The group unites powerful, visionary women who are committed to providing lasting, fundamental change in the community and to helping area women and children make better lives for themselves,” the Community Foundation of Monroe County said in a written release. “This year’s event showcased the incredible achievements of women throughout history and recognized the unwavering dedication of women in Monroe County.”
Keynote speakers Jami Keegan and Chris Kull spoke about “Women in 1812” and the history of philanthropic women in Monroe County.
At the event, a $5,000 grant was presented to the Rasey Memorial Branch Library in Luna Pier. The money will support the library branch’s upcoming back-to-school event. Children will receive a prepared bookbag filled with essential school supplies and personal hygiene products. They also will receive a professional haircut.
