WILLIAMSBURG — The Virginia Racial Healing Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the community, announced it received a contribution of $5,000 from Sentara Health and a grant from Williamsburg Community Foundation to help foster racial healing in Greater Williamsburg.
The organization said the donations would be used to support its Fourth Annual Heal Williamsburg/Heal the Nation Community Day, which is designed to foster “unity in the community” by providing workshops, free food, arts and crafts, a drumming circle, storytelling for children and a community forum that focuses on the effects of racism on health care, education and housing, as well as strategies to combat the adverse effects.
Panelists for the community forum include:

Their generous contributions reinforce their commitment to creating healthier communities through partnerships and philanthropy,” said Laura Hill, Executive Director of Virginia Racial Healing Institute, “We are looking forward to bringing the Greater Williamsburg community together for a day of good food, good music and good vibes.”
The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 1-4 p.m., at Legacy Hall in New Town and is organized by Coming to the Table — Historic Triangle, a program of Virginia Racial Healing Institute and the local chapter of Coming to the Table, a national racial reconciliation organization.
The event is free, but registration is required.
