Soroptimist International of Simi Valley, an organization committed to empowering women and improving the lives of those in need, recently hosted a night of celebration and philanthropy at its 12th annual Little Black Dress fundraiser at Eden Gardens in Moorpark.
The Oct. 5 evening not only brought together community members but also served as a platform to raise funds for worthy causes.
Attendees were treated to an evening filled with auctions, dining under the stars and a fashion show featuring both men and women residents.
One of the pillars of the organization’s mission is providing women and teen girls with grants to pursue education, despite financial obstacles. This initiative not only uplifts the recipients, but also strengthens the community by fostering economic independence and empowerment.
The organization also spreads awareness about human trafficking, working to combat the modern-day scourge that affects countless women and girls worldwide.
Soroptimists also offer support and resources to women and teens in crisis to help them overcome challenging circumstances.
Next year’s Little Black Dress gala will be Sept. 19, 2024.
