PITTSFIELD — The Institute for Extraordinary Banking is honoring a Pike County bank with its “Extraordinary Bank of the Year” award.

Farmers State Bank was recognized for its dedication to excellence in banking and customer service and commitment to community enrichment.

“We are incredibly honored to receive this prestigious award,” Farmers State Bank President Nevin Grigsby said. “This recognition is a testament to our commitment to serve our community. We share this achievement with our dedicated team and our loyal customers who have placed their trust in us.”

Farmers State Bank has been a top-three finalist for the award four years.

More than 4,500 community banks nationwide are eligible for nomination. Banks are evaluated on philanthropy, customer service, thought leadership, workplace culture, and financial literacy education.

As part of the award, $25,000 has been donated in the bank’s name to the Unstoppable Foundation, a non-profit organization that brings sustainable education to children and communities in developing countries. The money will help build a school in Africa.

In addition, Farmers State Bank will receive a custom-wrapped car, as well as a promotional marketing package to use.

Farmers State Bank was founded in 1889 and is headquartered in Pittsfield. It has been named a Best Place to Work in Illinois for the second year in a row and has a five-star rating by Bauer Financial Inc.
