The WOW Center Board of Directors has named Arlene Peterson its new Executive Director, effective October 16, 2023.

Arlene’s background, achievements, and deep passion for uplifting the at-risk and underserved members of the community impressed The WOW Center Board, resulting in her selection as the organization moves into the next chapter, building on its successes and strengths and establishing new pathways for growth and opportunities.

“I offer my sincere congratulations to Arlene Peterson on her appointment as the new Executive Director of The WOW Center,” said Alejandra “Alex” Argudin, Board Chair. “She will bring a record of achievements, enthusiasm, and a fresh approach to the organization.”

Arlene was recently Vice President of Philanthropy for Chapman Partnership, which operates two Homeless Assistance Centers in Downtown Miami and Homestead. Arlene is consistently motivated by the impact of transforming the lives of individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

She is a Florida International University graduate with a Broadcast Journalism degree. After
graduation, her career began in 1998 with United Way of Miami-Dade, where she raised more than $20M in support of health and human service programs. From there, she continued to Mercy Hospital Foundation, where she worked to raise funds and promote a new emergency room while garnering 100% participation in an employee giving campaign that boasted 2,500+ employees.

“My life’s mission has been driven by the belief that every individual deserves an opportunity to thrive,” said Arlene Peterson, incoming Executive Director of The WOW Center. “I am deeply honored and excited to assume the role of Executive Director. We will carve new paths by collaborating and innovating to further the Center’s goals, making a lasting and positive impact on the lives of countless unique and valuable individuals.”
