Urgent solutions to tackle widening worldwide disparities will be discussed this month when global experts gather in Hong Kong for the Philanthropy for Better Cities Forum.
Convened by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, and carrying the theme “Philanthropy for Fairer Societies”, the forum will be held at the West Kowloon Cultural District from September 11 to 12. Close to 70 prominent speakers and 1,600 delegates from around the world will be joining the two-day event, which is by invitation only.
Drawing on international case studies, the forum will explore ways to ensure fairer outcomes for all. Important issues up for discussion include health justice, the education divide, ageing societies and the role of technology in philanthropy.
Philanthropy, with its proven ability to catalyse change, has a vital role to play. The Jockey Club – one of the world’s top ten charity donors – serves as a good example. Through its Charities Trust it proactively initiates projects which have contributed significantly to the betterment of Hong Kong society. Every district and every person in Hong Kong has benefited in some way from the Club’s philanthropy.
The Club’s support for the Philanthropy for Better Cities Forum, like all of its charity donations, is made possible by its unique integrated business model through which racing and wagering generate tax and charity support for the community.
