Stewardship Donor Advised Fund payout rate at twice the industry average

Must Read

Stewardship, a Christian charity and donor advised fund (DAF), says that the rate at which grants are being paid out to its partner charities and churches is more than twice the industry average.

Grants to churches and charities increased by 14 per cent to £82.6 million, according to Stewardship’s annual report.

The National Philanthropic Trust (NPT) UK’s DAF Report 2022 found that the aggregate grant payout rate in 2021 was 24 per cent, versus 26 per cent in 2020.

By contrast, Stewardship says its payout rate is at over double that of the UK DAF average; up to 53.21 per cent in 2022, from 52.84 per cent in 2021.

The Christian donor advised fund says more than 30,000 donors give over £97 million every year to equip and strengthen over 6,000 charities, 4,000 churches and 2,300 Christian workers.

Stewardship says it saw giving grow by 10 per cent to just under £110 million in 2022, reflecting what it calls a “resilient generosity” amid the cost-of-living crisis.

Donor advised funds, sometimes called ‘charitable giving accounts’, are growing in popularity in the UK. They’re low-hassle, tax-friendly ways to set aside money for charitable giving.
