Hello, and good afternoon! In the event you’ve already moved on from Zach Shallcross’s Bachelor drama (srry not srry) and are ready for new intel, we are pleased to inform you that Charity Lawson’s Bachelorette season is already in full swing! And because Charity knows how to give the people what they want, she’s already opening up about her first night of filming. “It was a good one,” the franchise’s new lead dished to Entertainment Tonight about shooting the season premiere episode—aka when her contestants make their ~grand~ limo entrances. “I’m a little giddy. Definitely smitten. I have a good batch of boys…I was laughing the whole night.”
The newest Bachelorette also told the outlet she’s grateful for the opp, not only because she’s looking forward to finding love, but because she’s quite literally making history as the fourth Black Bachelorette. “When I was told that I was going to be the next Bachelorette, that was one of the first things that I immediately thought of,” she said. “To step into this role as the fourth woman of color and the second monoracial African American Bachelorette, it’s huge…I recognize that, although it is my journey, it’s so much bigger than me, because I’m carrying along a whole community of people who are looking up [to me] and [I’m] representing that as well,” she added. “[I’m] definitely not taking it for granted. I’m really excited and I’m very fortunate to be the fourth.”
Couldn’t be more obsessed with her if I tried! If you simply can’t wait to watch how Charity’s season unfolds when the show premieres IRL (same), don’t worry because everyone’s favorite Bachelor sleuth Reality Steve has *all* the spoilers laid out.
Behold: A bunch of spoilers for Charity’s Bachelorette season, below. I repeat, SPOILERS lie ahead in 3…2…1….
‘The Bachelorette’ season 20 will air in June 2023
Mark your calendars, people! The head honchos at ABC recently confirmed via Instagram that the new season of The Bachelorette will air its first episode on June 26, 2023:
And not only does the post announce the first episode date, but it also reveals there will be a new time slot for the upcoming season. Rather than airing from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET—which is typical for the Bachelor Nation franchise—the newest installment will be pushed an hour back, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET. In-ter-est-ing!
It will be shorter than other seasons
One of the many rumors circulating about Charity’s Bachelorette season is that it will be slightly shorter than usual, which I personally think is a testament to how women in general are phenomenal at catching red flags early on, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Much of the intel surrounding the more abbreviated season is coming from gossip king Reality Steve, who recently said Charity is already down to six men despite filming only beginning a few weeks ago.
But hey, we’ll only know for sure once we see how it all unfolds on our TV screens—or until Reality Steve hits us with some updated receipts.
There are 29 contestants
And you can meet them right this way:
Charity is already in full-on dating mode
Once again, Reality Steve is all over the date spoilers for this season. On March 24, he reported that Charity’s first group date started the day prior and involved a trip to the Hollywood sign. And from the looks of it, it seems as though one of the Aarons wound up getting the first one-on-one date with Charity, which was a private concert. Iconic!
Steve also dished that Charity went on another one-on-one date with Brayden Bowers to PetCo Park in San Diego, which is apparently his hometown according to the Bach sleuth.
Oh, and the duo arrived by helicopter. Consider the bar raised, people!
Yes, there is a Barbie sing-off
This collab was not on my 2023 Bingo card, but here we are! Apparently, Charity’s men participate in a “Barbie Sing Off” this season and even perform their own version of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.” The date is reportedly tied to the Greta Gerwig film, which is set to hit theaters on July 21, 2023, and according to Steve, “We’ve seen this before where the show does a date promoting an upcoming movie, and the Barbie movie comes out July 21, which is right in the middle of Charity’s season. So this episode will essentially be shown on July 10th, and it’ll be promoting that new Barbie movie.”
Steve added in one of his most recent blog posts that, “12 guys were on the date yesterday as part of the ‘Barbie Sing Off,’ and each guy had to dress up in a funky costume and sing ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun,’ but set to their own lyrics they made up. Sean McLaughlin ended up winning the date, as judged by JoJo, Jordan, and Charity. He got 1-on-1 time with her after the show as they got to walk on the pier and talk there by themselves.”
There will be tons of traveling
As recent as April 2, Charity’s season was filming in Washington state. The Bachelorette reportedly had had a one-on-one date at Mt. Hood Ski Bowl and was set to have another one-on-one, a group date, *and* a rose ceremony before traveling to New Orleans. TL;DR: Charity is truly the epitome of a jet-setter this season.
Once in NOLA, the Bachelorette apparently has multiple dates, including two one-on-one’s with Joey Graziadei and Dotun Olubeko. Content of those outings c/o Steve (bless him, srsly), incoming:
As of April 2023, there are only six men left ?
And according to Reality Steve, the six men who currently remain in the competition are: Dotun, Xavier, Sean, Joey, Tanner, and Aaron B.
So yeah, that’s pretty much all we know for now, but there’s *definitely* bound to be more intel so be sure to check back here!
