(April 10, 2023) – Unity Bank has donated $25,000 to America’s Grow-a-Row (AGAR) as the lead sponsor of the Pittstown non-profit organization’s 2023 Farm to Fork Volunteer Sponsorship program, supporting  the activities of 10,000 volunteers. Unity employees also volunteer several times a year at AGAR’s four Hunterdon County farms.

“Going on seven years, Unity and its employees have volunteered and helped to harvest more than a million servings of produce for those faced with hunger and food insecurity,” said AGAR President and Founder Chip Paillex. “Unity Bank clearly exemplifies what it means to be a socially responsible company given its generous use of funds and time, and that includes everyone from the CEO, Jim Hughes, throughout the bank. We could not be more thankful for the support Unity and its employees give to America’s Grow-a-Row.”

America’s Grow-a-Row grows and gleans fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables that are donated to those facing hunger throughout the state of New Jersey and beyond. Produce grown at America’s Grow-a-Row is donated to food banks and hunger relief agencies. America’s Grow-a-Row plans to donate 2.6 million pounds, or 10.4 million servings, of farm-fresh produce this year.

“America’s Grow-a-Row provides a special opportunity for Unity and our employees to have an impact on hunger and food insecurity,” said Unity Bank President & CEO James A. Hughes. “We are honored to help Grow-a-Row bring their farm fresh produce to people in the region. As a community bank, we are committed to donating our time and resources in the communities where we do business.”

Crystal Rose, Unity Bank Marketing Director/First Vice President, was named a member of AGAR’s Board of Trustees last year, further strengthening the bank’s commitment to the organization.

In addition to providing fresh, healthy produce to those in need, AGAR educates people of all generations about hunger and ways to help; introduces youth to farming and healthy eating; cultivates in tomorrow’s leaders the habit of giving back; and contributes to the sustainability of agriculture.
