Roar Social, a new social media platform, has recently been launched exclusively in the Apple App Store. This unique platform aims to turn fun video content into a powerful tool for social impact. By replacing the traditional “Like” button with a “Give” button, Roar Social allows users to make micro-donations as small as a penny to reputable nonprofits. This democratizes philanthropy and enables everyone to contribute to positive social change with just a tap.
The CEO and Founder of Roar Social, Robert Weiss, expressed his vision for the platform, stating that the value generated from users’ time and creativity on social media should not only benefit shareholders but also go towards charities and building a better world.
Roar Social offers a range of innovative features designed to engage users and facilitate social good. The platform includes the Roar Board, a unique content discovery experience that provides users with varied choices instead of a traditional single-feed scroll. Users can also choose a Hero Cause such as Climate Change or Mental Health, which forms the basis of Roar Social’s communities. Additionally, users can post general-entertainment videos and raise money for their Hero Causes.
To support these micro-donations, Roar Social provides users with the Roar Giving Wallet. Users can preload their wallet with as little as $5 and donate a penny or more to posts they like. The Roar Social Foundation, an independent 501(c)(3), handles all user donation transactions.
Furthermore, Roar Social has introduced the concept of Roars and the Roar Score. Users can earn Roars by posting and engaging with content, which accumulates throughout the week and impacts real-world matching donations from brand partners. An Impact Dashboard allows users to monitor their real-life impact on the platform.
Roar Social has attracted $11 million in seed funding and has assembled a top-tier team of product and engineering talent. The platform also offers opportunities for brands to highlight their corporate social responsibility efforts and for nonprofits to reach a new generation of donors.
Roar Social invites creators, influencers, and users to join their VIP Early Access list to experience its gamified giving ecosystem. The platform aims to create a community that combines entertainment with a higher purpose, shifting the focus from passive entertainment to shared missions.
