MARIETTA — Registration has opened for the Marietta Area Community Foundation’s annual Nonprofit Challenge.
For the first time in the event’s history, all nonprofits serving Washington County are eligible to participate.
Also, thanks to the increased sponsorship of Superior Toyota Hyundai, $30,000 in prizes is up for grabs, $10,000 more than in previous years. With the stakes higher than ever, since its inception in 2015, the annual event has empowered local nonprofits to unite for a common cause while competing to win significant funding.
This year’s Challenge is a Penny War. The competition begins Nov. 1 and runs through 5 p.m. Nov. 16. Deposits can be made into the participating nonprofit’s jugs at the Marietta Community Foundation, 100 Putnam St., Marietta, during regular business hours 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Checks and online gifts also will be accepted.
Nonprofits can register to participate at https://www.mcfohio.org/nonprofit-challenge through Monday.
The top prizes are: first place, $10,000; second place: $7,000; third place, $5,000; fourth place: $3,000; fifth place, $2,500. Additional $500 auxiliary prizes will be awarded for First Friday Donor’s Choice, Superior’s Choice – Best Decorated Jug and recognition for Most Donors on National Philanthropy Day, Most Bills Collected and Most Online Donations.
All funds raised will be donated to the Community Impact Fund, which pools community support to award funding to nonprofits benefiting Washington County.
Winners will be announced 5 p.m. Nov. 17 during an open house of nonprofits at the foundation. Doors open at 4 p.m.
The foundation has distributed more than $27 Million to charities since its creation in 1974 and currently manages over 350 funds while meeting rigorous national standards in the community foundation sector.
